We Must Value Lives Over Manmade Laws Just Like Our Lord Jesus Christ Did

Humans killed Jesus Christ, the Messiah. This is just one evidence that humans are inherently evil and self-righteous beyond words. They see someone doing the right thing, but try to undermine it by saying it is not done well or lawfully. I have seen this behavior that killed Jesus a lot, and even recently saw it a few weeks ago when Donald Trump called out Nigeria for the mass killings of Christians. For years, people had been dying, but not much was done to stop it.

Then Trump called it out, and some people immediately started to explain that it was not only Christians who are being mass-killed, but Muslims too. They began to cry, saying Trump would be breaking international law by coming to kill those who have been killing innocent people for years. They went into panic mode, jumping from one media platform to another, defending their narrative rather than commending a person who was only trying to save lives. If Trump were someone within reach, I’m sure the politicians in Nigeria would have captured him and thrown him in prison to shut him up, just like the religious leaders captured Jesus and killed him for healing the sick.

These people exhibit the kind of evil that killed our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus did good, but the Jews thought he did not follow the law while doing good. Jesus healed people on the Sabbath day, but the religious leaders thought he broke the law and should be punished. Humans are filthy and wicked and do not deserve mercy, but Jesus still sacrificed himself for the creatures.

Mark 3:1-6

Another time, Jesus went into the synagogue, and a man with a shriveled hand was there. 2 Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath. 3 Jesus said to the man with the shriveled hand, “Stand up in front of everyone.”

4 Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent.

5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus.

I totally understand why God destroyed the world during the time of Noah. I would have done the same, and just closed the chapter of humans. But God showed mercy and let one righteous man and his family live. Yet from that man, evil sprang up again. What I can’t wrap my head around is why the Lord decided to send his son to die for us. But I’m glad God did, and that is why we can today say we are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ.

We must continue to declare the Lord Jesus Christ as our savior to have a chance at eternity in heaven. While alive, we must always follow the example our Lord set. We must love ourselves and value lives over manmade laws, especially in places like Nigeria, where the laws punish the innocent and reward the guilty.
